All 128 questions

These are the official questions USCIS may ask—not sample questions. The officer chooses up to 20 from this list for the standard test.

The 2025 version applies to applications filed on or after October 20, 2025, even if your interview is later. Words in parentheses are optional.

Copied from the official USCIS question-and-answer list, checked October 19, 2026. Some answers depend on your location or current officials. Check USCIS answer updates before your interview.

Spanish is a study aid — the test is in English

Every question and answer also appears in Spanish under the English words. Use Spanish to understand — then practice saying it in English.

Usually, one answer is enough

Every answer listed is an acceptable answer. You do not need to say the whole list. Give one answer, unless the question asks for two or three.

USCIS recognizes that other correct answers may exist, but recommends using the answers on its official list. Learn the meaning, not just the words. Words in parentheses are optional; we cannot promise that every reworded answer will be accepted.

For questions about current officials or your location, the list gives instructions to help you find your answer.

Pick your state and the questions about your senators, governor, and capital will show your real answers.
